Hearing Screening Program

Hopkins County Schools will conduct a county wide hearing screening program for all students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade, students in grades 4-5 who have an IEP and are due for a re-evaluation, students who are new to Hopkins County and students who are in Tier III of the KSI program.

6th – 12th grade students with an IEP and are due for a re-evaluation and students who are in Tier III of the KSl program will be screened by the schools nurse. All other students will be screened on a referral basis only.

If your child passes the screening, you will not receive any further notification. If he/she fails the screening and needs to be referred for further audiological testing to determine if there may be a hearing problem, you will receive further explanation from the Speech Language Pathologist at your child’s school.
